Cultural events
Every year, from mid-July to mid-August, lasts one month. Traditional dancing, concerts, marionettes and theater shows.
Greek Easter
Follow the epitaphs of all the churches that meet on the coastal road and unite. To honor the ceremony there is an impressive squad of soldiers that serve their duty at the island’s naval training center. The band of Poros municipality, formed with children from Poros’ school, is present as well, chanting Easter anthems.
Events of July and August
At the central square of Poros, Iroon Square, concerts and drawing exhibitions take place. Separate concerts take place at the remains of the old Russian naval yard, a place that looks like Herodion, where many famous artists have performed.
Poros, one of the most picturesque islands of the Saronic Gulf, is distinguished by its combination of traditional color and cosmopolitan lifestyle.
The crystal clear blue water of its sparkling beaches, the island’s lush greenery, its intense nightlife, great food, and the warm hospitality of its inhabitants make Poros the ideal destination for any vacation.
But that’s not all!
The abundance of fascinating things to see and places to visit: The Temple of Poseidon, the Monastery of Zoodohos Pigi (“The Life-giving Source”), the abandoned ruins of the old Russian naval yard, museums, exhibitions, and concerts – as well as the proximity to Athens – all make Poros a favorite destination for even a short weekend getaway.
Poros is the ideal base for your excursions. You can try the tour of the island with a traditional boat, or you can visit the nearby islands of Hydra and Spetses with a high-speed ferry.
Very close to Poros are Hermioni and Porto Heli which you can visit as well, either by car or by a high-speed ferry.
You can also combine your stay in Poros with attending the events at the ancient theatre of Epidaurus.

Poros’ quiet streets are lovely for bicycling. The island is an ideal destination for those that love to bike in the mountains, through the forest’s magnificent, full of pine trees paths.

Trekking
Poros is ideal for trekking since it is one of the few Greek islands almost completely covered with pine forests. You will find many choices for walking, depending on your mood and ability and hundreds of paths waiting to be discovered. If you are lucky, you may even see a pheasant!
